You’ve all heard my story but now it comes with illustrations….<\/p>\n

My Toyota Corolla changed from red to black to silver, all in one week!<\/p>\n

It’s been red for the last 12 years since Bert and I purchased it, and I
\nassumed it would stay that way for the next six years.<\/p>\n

But no… After driving eight uneventful miles to a routine medical
\nappointment, as soon as I stepped out, I smelled and saw smoke escaping
\nfrom the hood. With my “Oh, I gotta fix it” instinct, I reached into the
\ndriver’s side to open the hood latch. Two women yelled to me from a
\ndistance, ‘Get away from that car, lady, get away fast.”<\/p>\n

Backing away from the car, I stood with them, very grateful. Black smoke
\nwas pouring out. Opening the hood was the stupidest idea I almost did.<\/p>\n

We called both police and fire dept. Within three minutes the police
\narrived. They were able to move an adjacent car away but had no fire
\nfighting equipment. They kept people away from getting close but just
\nstood there, watching as the wind blew the smoke higher. Under the car
\nframe we could now see sparks and drips of fire.<\/p>\n

It was maybe eight minutes from the time we called before the fire dept
\narrived. Probably pretty fast, considering the station wasn’t close. By
\nthen the front of the car was completely involved in flames.<\/p>\n

See the pictures attached. The fire photos were taken by one of the
\nwomen with her phone. The ones in the salvage yard I took days later.<\/p>\n

But no one was hurt. I bought a nice silver 07 Toyota Corolla as a
\nreplacement within a week. (I do miss the red)  And I did get a good story.<\/p>\n
